Matter and AP Pension launch new partnership on sustainable pension savings.

Matter raises funding from NREP-founders

We are happy and proud to announce that Matter has raised 3.7 MDKK from the founders of Nordic Real Estate Partners, Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby and Rasmus Nørgaard.

The investment reflects how far we have come since the founding of Matter in 2017. We are excited to start the new collaboration, that will enable us to continue developing our technology and expand sustainable pension schemes and investments in Denmark.

Our new investors, Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby and Rasmus Nørgaard, founded Nordic Real Estate Partners (NREP) in 2005. Since then, NREP has established itself as a significant Nordic innovator within investment, development and administration of real estate. The investment in Matter is undertaken through the founders’ own investment company, that shares a great deal of philosophy with us at Matter:

”Sustainability is an integral parameter when we look at investments in NREP. Among other things, we have created the world’s first building made from recycled concrete, and in a new project we are investing in the first building in the world that addresses all 17 of the UN’s Global Goals. Our investment in Matter follows our belief that there are healthy returns in healthy investments. Matter has an entrepreneurial and competent team, and they have created a good approach to the market through their partnership with AP Pension. We believe their idea is correct, and we are looking forward to support their development”, Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby says.

With Mikkel and Rasmus we bring on board two experienced and competent profiles that share our vision and can help us to take Matter to the next level. We are very much looking forward to the collaboration. Our new investors will also actively contribute to the development of Matter by nominating Steen Sønderby, former CFO of NREP, to Matter’s Board of Directors.

In addition to the NREP investment, we have entered into a strategic partnership with the pension company AP Pension, and launched the first sustainable pension plan for companies in Denmark. Read more about the new collaboration here.
